Tuohy Sports in Retired Boxers Foundation corner
Golf Fundraiser Sept. 7 in Andover(MA)

SANDWICH, Mass. (August 20, 2005) – Once again Tuohy Sports & Entertainment (TSE) is in the corner of boxers in need. TSE presents the inaugural Retired Boxers Foundation (RBF) Celebrity Golf Tournament, benefiting The Undisputed Champion For Dignity, September 7 at the Andover Country Club (Andover, MA), TSE president Hank Tuohy and RBF Director Gary Litchfield jointly announced today.

Lunch will be served at 12 noon, followed by a Shotgun start at 1 p.m. All players will receive an embroidered Calloway golf shirt. After 18 holes an awards dinner with prizes and an auction to benefit RBF will be held at the Andover Country Club. The fee to play and attend the awards dinner is $200.00, or $75.00 to attend the award dinner only. Cost to sponsor a hole is $150.00.

Active and retired boxers invited to attend the tournament and/or awards dinner include Honorary Chairman “Irish” Micky Ward, Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, State Auditor Joe DeNucci, Tony DeMarco, Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Paz, Richie “The Mountain” LaMontagne, and Olympian Jason Estrada. Other former athletes and sports personalities scheduled to play include Boston Bruins Ken Hodge, Bob Sweeney, John “Pie” McKenzie, Bob Beers, Bronco Horvath, Andy Brickley; Boston Red Sox Joe Morgan, Bill Lee, Luis Tiant; New England Patriots Tom Yewcic, Tom Stephens, Len St. Jean, Larry Eisenhauer; Boston Celtics Jo Jo White; Buffalo Bills Todd Krueger; Peter Vaas and Dave Shea.

“I’m also a boxing promoter and I want to give something back to boxers,” Tuohy explained. “I’m working with RBF President Alex “The Bronx Bomber” Ramos, Gary Litchfield and their staff. It’s going to be a star-studded event with many active and former athletes participating in the golf tournament. It’s all about helping boxers.”

Colonel Bob Sheridan, recently selected for induction into the World Boxing Hall of Fame, has called more world championship boxing matches than any announcer. Also an RBF Director, he is coming from his Las Vegas home to the Retired Boxers Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament. “Boxing’s been very good to me and as a new inductee to the Hall of Fame,” Col. Bob noted, “I want to give something back to the boxers. I don’t play golf, but I’ll be at the awards dinner. I’m coming to Massachusetts to support the event and my friend, fellow Board Member Gary Litchfield.”
