NEWARK, NJ, February 8, 2005 —The Tsunami Disaster has affected millions of people throughout the world. With a disaster of this magnitude affecting hundreds of thousands in several countries half a world away, it’s important that we donate to the relief effort so that the millions that were affected get the help they so desperately need. The Darwish Bros. flanking a fighter Hani and Walid Darwish of Darwish Brothers Knockout Promotions have decided to help. “We, along with millions of others were deeply affected by the disaster in Southeast Asia. This is our way to show that the boxing community cares. Every little bit helps and we are happy to help the victims of this disaster,” stated the Darwish brothers at a recent press conference. “Starting with our event on February 17, we will be donating $1 for every ticket sold to the Tsunami Relief Effort.” This event on February 17 is the first of 2005, and the third installment of the North Jersey Boxing Series.
The Darwish brothers have planned at least 12 more shows for 2005 and they plan to run the donation each show for the remainder of the year. “We are planning to donate $1 from each ticket sold at every event we hold for the remainder of this year. With at least 12 shows planned, we hope to donate an estimated $25,000 to the Tsunami Relief Effort by year’s end. We also encourage people to make their own donations to the Red Cross and the Tsunami Relief Effort.” With the generosity of the Darwish brothers as well as hundreds of other companies we can hopefully get Tsunami survivors the essential relief assistance that will help them get their lives back together as soon as possible.
