UNCASVILLE, CT, October 6, 2005 – Hulking 6' 4" Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski proved once again why he is considered the “most feared striker in the UFC”, knocking out dangerous slugger Paul Buentello to successfully defend his Interim Heavyweight Championship at the Mohegan Sun.

Dubbed UFC 55: The Fury, this event could arguably better be described as The Whallop!

According to Dr. James Stoxen, DC, Buentello charged out hard at Arlovski and the two traded blows. Arlovski crouched lower and nailed Buentello coming in with what he believed to be a concussive right hand. Then, according to Stoxen, Buentello collapsed on top of Arlovski.

"Buentello's body was limp, like he was dead," said Stoxen, "He was knocked out."

The referee, who observed Buentello fall unconscious, waved off the fight 15 seconds into round one. Buentello, who apparently woke up when he hit the ground, protested that he was okay.

Many fans who didn't observe Buentello falling unconscious protested loudly. That is, until they saw the replay, where, according to Stoxen, it was clear that Buentello was unconscious.

Afterwards, Arlovski was brimming with emotion. He had truly prepared long and hard for this battle and, clearly, his efforts had paid off in dramatic fashion.
