Junior Welterweight prospect Al “Speedy” Gonzales has split with Chicago based promoter 8 Count Productions, according to his co-managers Albert Falcon and Patrick Doljanin.

Gonzales, (16-2-1) last fought in February of this year, dropping a close decision to Oscar Diaz.

“Speedy took some time-off and he’ll be back in the gym next month. He’s a free agent and we’re looking forward to a fresh start,” said Doljanin.

“Speedy is an exciting fighter who’s made a lot of fans in a short period of time. People know if Speedy’s fighting, they’re going to get more than their money’s worth.”

Added co-manager Albert Falcon, “We had a good run the past three years, but it’s time to move on to a promoter that is more established and has more resources.”

Although Team Gonzales didn’t mention any promoter by name, Doljanin added, “We have spoken with a handful of promoters. Speedy is an exciting fighter and we are open to discussions with all interested parties.”
