An Open Letter To John Ruiz

By Steve Coughlin

Dear John,

For a person with the nickname "Quiet Man" you sure have been running your mouth off lately. First, it was taking shots at James Toney. OK, I'll give you that one. He was juiced up and that isn't fair. But now you've gone after Vitali Klitschko for retiring. Calling him heartless, fighting only hand-picked opposition. It's America and you're entitled to your opinion. That said, why don't you just shut your pie hole?

Let's face it John, you will NEVER be considered the TRUE heavyweight champion as long as there's another fighter that's holding a belt in the division. YOU lost to not one but TWO blown-up middleweights and got beat convincingly by each of them. ANY other heavyweight champion would be so ashamed of themselves that they'd have trouble going out in public after that, but not you.

And excuse me for asking, but whom exactly have you beaten other than a washed up Holyfield? And for a guy that calls out everyone else and questions their hearts, answer the following question for me: When are you going to have a rematch with David Tua?

Sorry John, you've gotten quiet again. Now stay that way please!

Instead of Ruiz filing a weenie $10M lawsuit against Toney, how about a rematch? Put a clause in that Toney has to be tested once two months before the fight, then again a week before. If Ruiz felt he could beat Toney he'd want a rematch, title fight or not.
