Colajanni also suffered a flash knockdown in the fourth round. Beyer controlled the fight all the way but couldn´t catch up with the fast moving Italian and it became a very poor fight. It was a poor matchup to begin with as Colajanni had done nothing to deserve a shot at a major title and he proved that he was out of his league with his running. O´Connell did talk to Colajanni about the lack of action but should have deducted points and maybe even disqualified the challenger. Having said that Beyer was no ball of fire either.
Paolo Vidoz retained the EBU heavyweight title with a clear points win over German Cengiz Koc. It was scored 117-112 on two cards and 116-112 on the third. Vidoz, the bigger man, worked Koc over with good upercuts and controlled the fight most of the way. Koc should have been a lot more agressive but wasn´t. There were no knockdowns. Zauerbek Baysangourov kept the IBF Youth 154 title with ninth round stoppage of brave Zambian John Chikula. ´ Cruiser Marco Huck knocked out Canadian Claudio Rasco in the seventh of their scheduled eight-under. Timo Hoffmann was left without a fight when his opponent, Zack Page, pulled out at a late notice due to an injury.
