DETROIT - ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights will feature NABO Super Featherweight Champion Antonio “T Rex” Davis (19-1-0) defending his title on February 3rd in the main event vs. veteran Koba Gogoladze (17-1-0).

The card will be televised from the International Banquet Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan and will give young Davis an opportunity to showcase his talents before a national television audience.

I had the opportunity to watch him spar this past Saturday at the Savannah Boxing Club and Youth Association here in Houston and was impressed with his ring skills and toughness. An upright, conventional boxer, Davis was sparring with two southpaw fighters in preparation for his fight this Friday night against Gogoladze, who is also a left-hander. The two fighters were fifteen pounds heavier than Davis, and the action was intense and hard fought in the main ring.

“I want him in against heavier guys to toughen him up and get him ready for Gogoladze, who is a jabber and mover” said Savannah trainer Jay Johns. “Tony will be taking the fight to him and use his strength and better power to wear him down, and we think get Koba out of there.”

Davis is very confident of victory going into Friday’s fight, “I’ve had the best training camp of may career” stated Davis, “I was running six miles a day and have now backed it down to three as fight time gets closer. I’ve worked hard and prayed hard, and it will all be worth it when the announcer says, “And still Champion!”
