Hernandez’ first professional belt was the Illinois State Title. With his girlfriend and an entourage of roughly 20 people in tow, Hernandez took the pride of the Windy City and his patented slugging style into the ring and prevailed. A source close to the action said, “In one of the rounds, Miguel had a point deducted for a low blow. I don’t remember which round it was. This fired him up! The round that he had the point taken away, I thought he won the round. He took it to him and killed him.” He continued, “The opponent [Davis] was more of like a boxer. He would come in with jabs and lay a couple on Miguel. He looked pretty polished in his technique. “There was a fair amount of holding. There were a lot of breaks in the action with hugging from the opponent. [Davis] would come straight up the middle. He had more of a classic boxing style. His right eye was a little bit swollen. Miguel was never dazed. He can take a punch. Basically he won. That’s all.” Hernandez, who fights for Dominic Pesoli's Eight Count Productions in Chicago, now stands at 19-3 and nine knockouts. Davis' record slips to 19-5-2 and eight knockouts.
