Joey Medina is a former professional boxer who won the Arizona Lightweight Title against Chris Alvarado via knockout in 1986. His record of 15-10-1 and eight knockouts includes a TKO loss to Gert Bo Jacobsen at Las Vegas in the seventh round. This was Medina’s only stoppage loss. Jacobsen was 24-0 at the time and went on to win the WBO Welterweight Title in 1993.
Asked why he left boxing, Medina said, “I was burned out. And, in boxing, you need to be 100 percent committed.” At 40 years old, he still runs and works out, adding, “It just feels good!” Alex Reymundo and Joey Medina were featured in the movie, “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy” and various TV shows. In addition to numerous media appearances and regular tours, both have performed before U.S. Armed forces. David Estrada, 9-5 and seven knockouts, has appeared on Telefutura’s popular “Solo Boxeo” show and ESPN2 broadcasts and looks forward to bigger and better things in the future.
