LaSalle Bank 8K & 5K 'Shamrock Shuffle' Now Closed; Health & Fitness Expo Still Open!

CHICAGO (February 28, 2006) - The 2006 LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle “ the world's largest 8K (4.97 miles) race" has reached its increased registration cap of 25,000 participants in record time and registration for both the 8K race and 5K walk is now closed. The event, which starts and finishes in Chicago's Grant Park on Sunday, April 2, increased its registration cap from 22,500 in 2005 to 25,000 this year and has closed sooner than ever, more than a month in advance of Race Day.

"We are extremely pleased with the growing success of The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle as demonstrated by the continued increase in registration and spectator numbers year after year," said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski. "We expect to have a huge crowd join us in Grant Park on Race Day to participate in what has become a great spring tradition for Chicagoans and the Chicago running community."

Registered runners still have the option to form teams for competition in The LaSalle Bank Chicago Challenge until March 21 at www.shamrockshuffle.com . The Chicago Challenge will pit teams of runners against each other in one of two divisions “Chicago Challenge Cup" for highly competitive athletes and Chicago Challenge Shield for recreational runners. Teams may compete in one or all three of the LaSalle Bank running events in Chicago - The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle, The LaSalle Bank Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon and The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. Awards will be given to the winning teams at the conclusion of each race and overall series awards will be distributed to the top teams based on their performances in all three races.

This year's Post-Race Party will take place outdoors on Sunday, April 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Grant Park around Buckingham Fountain.
