March 16, 2006 - The World Boxing Council is honored and very pleased with the news about the candidacy of world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko to the Mayoralty of Kiev, Capital City of Ukraine.

If Vitali gets elected, the people of Kiev will have an active, honest, patriotic and hard-working mayor in one of the most exemplary champions who always devoted his efforts to succeed in the boxing arenas and who will certainly continue striving for the benefit of this historic and beautiful capital city. The WBC hopes Vitali wins the election, for the good of his homeland and also as an example to current and future boxers, as someone who has always succeeded in life, in and out the ring.Recently, Vitali was appointed by the WBC as “World Ambassador for Peace and Good Will” and also as Champion Emeritus in Cancun on December 20, in recognition of his outstanding trajectory in boxing and also of his exemplary personal life.

All the WBC members are with Vitali.
