Interview with WBC's Mauricio Sulaiman on Women's Boxing

By Jill Diamond

Executive Secretary of the WBC, Vice President of the NABF, Mauricio Sulaiman, son of Jose Sulaiman, is the charming, yet unassuming force behind the organization. When it came to bringing women’s boxing under the wings of the WBC, if Jose was the fire, Mauricio was the fuel. Mauricio’s dedication and desire to see women boxers have the same prestige and reward that men do is obvious. His drive to make the boxing ring safe and fair for female athletes is honorable. But what I find most inspiring about Mauricio, is his love for his father and family. A true a hero and a standard bearer for women in the boxing community, I appreciate that Mauricio consented to share his life and thoughts with us.

Jill: Your family has a proud history of being associated with Boxing. How did your personal involvement begin?
