Special Night, Special Matchups Make 'Rumble' Legendary

MERRILLVILLE, Ind.- Breaking from tradition for one night only, Octavius James/One In A Million Inc. and Langel's Restaurant will kick off a fighting weekend with a rare Friday night weigh-in (Sept. 22nd) for the "Civic Center Rumble" at Langel's Pizza, 2833 Highway Ave., in Highland.

Just one night later, a grudge match awaits fans at the legendary Hammond Civic Center 5825 Sohl Ave in Hammond, Indiana.

Generating major interest in the "Rumble" is the third match-up between the IN.B.A. Light Welterweight Champion Jaime Alvarado (6-4-2, 4 KO's), originally of Mexico City, vs. Hammond's own Ruben "The Modern Day Warrior" Galvan (26-9-2, 9 KO's) for Alvarado's State belt. Their last meeting erupted into conflict between the two camps just two weeks earlier when Alvarado threatened to knock out Galvan during a press conference sponsored by Horseshoe Casino Hammond.

Tickets for the "Civic Center Rumble" are on sale, starting at $25. The Hammond Civic Center's doors open at 7 p.m., and the first bout will be at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Civic Center Box Office (219-853-6378) and Ticket Master (312-559-1212) or www.ticketmaster.com

"There's no doubt this trilogy has heat and emotions unlike anything either of these fighters has seen before," said Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc. "And, I expect the other fighters to really start the night out swinging."

Switching the fights to a Saturday night and the weigh-ins to a Friday night is a special occasion for businesses like Langel's, one of a number of businesses with strong links to One In A Million's success.

"I've been in the restaurant business long enough to know that you have to give your customers what they want, whether you're a boxing team or a popular restaurant," said Rodney Langel, owner of Langel's. "Our customers want sports, and One In A Million gives us the best in boxing, so it makes sense to continue to support their work, especially to kick off a weekend, which is our busiest time."

The "Rumble" will also feature a special attraction Light Welterweight Johnny "Kid One In A Million" Novak (18-1, 6 KO's), a hot prospect preparing for a possible televised bout, Chicago Middleweight Shay Mobley (14-7-1, 6 KO's), as he returns to fighting form, and Super Middleweight Derek Findley (5-1, 4 KO's).
