WBC Lauds New Jersey Athletic Control Board on Advanced Weigh-In Ruling

The World Boxing Council would like to congratulate the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board for instituting the rule for advance weigh-ins 30 days and seven days before boxing matches. It is a great step forward for boxers' health and welfare.

Local commissions are the key to compliance with advance weigh-ins, as promoters, managers, and boxers are required to follow their rules.

This rule was initially recommended after a number of thorough studies by respected physicians from around the world to determine the causes of fatigue and dehydration in boxers.

When a fighter loses weight in a monitored way, they will come to the official weigh-in in much better condition and health.
