CHICAGO, December 7, 2006 -- Chicagoan Jose Hernandez heads to South Florida next week to battle Jason Litzau at the Miccosukee Resort and Casino in Miami, Florida next Saturday night, December 16th as part of an outstanding HBO Boxing After Dark doubleheader. Hernandez and Litzau will square off in the ten round co-main event starting at 9:30pm EST, 8:30pm CST.

Hernandez, 21-3 (13KO's) is coming off an eight round destruction of Lenny DeVictoria on August 25th of this year at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom. Earlier this year, Hernandez and Antonio Escalante engaged in a ten round "Fight of the Year" candidate at Cicero Stadium broadcast on Univision's SOLO BOXEO Friday night series.

Said Hernandez after his most recent sparring session, "I'm at 131 right now, only three pounds over the contracted limit. I've had nine weeks to train for this fight and I've been able to work myself into outstanding shape. Usually it's a much shorter period to train, but I've taken full advantage of the advance time."

Speaking about his sparring for this fight Hernandez stated, "I've gotten great work in Chicago with guys like David Diaz and Germaine Sanders. David has been great to work with changing over to righty and Germaine is very fast and slick. Working with both of them will help for fight."

Speaking specifically about Jason Litzau, Hernandez said, "He's no stranger to me, I've been hearing about him for a couple of years. He's the name guy, he's the one HBO wants to see. That's fine but I can tell you now and you'll see next weekend, they picked the wrong guy to fight him."

Asked what type of fights he expects to take place Jose stated, "I fully expect a war. We both need to win and we're both warriors. They've sort of nicknamed this fight "KTFO" and that's absolutely what's going to happen to one of us. This is a Boxing After Dark type of fight from the mid 90's."

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of Chicago's 8 Count Productions and promoter of Jose Hernandez, "Jose's wanted to fight Litzau for a while now, he's in fantastic shape. This truly is boxing at its best, two guys putting all their chips in. I'm grateful to Main Events and HBO for giving Jose this opportunity and I'm sure he plans on making the most of it."
