Press Release: Delvin Rodriguez Headlines March 23rd ESPN2 against tough Jesse "El Rayo" Feliciano for USBA Title
Friday Night Fights at Foxwoods Resort Casino

Mashantucket, CT (February 8, 2007) – Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing is heading to Foxwoods Resort Casino for the March 23 installment of ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights”. The full night of action, which takes place at the state-of-the-art, fan-friendly Fox Theatre, is headlined by the return of red-hot world-rated welterweight Delvin Rodriguez (20-1-1 12 KOs) who takes on Jesse “El Rayo” Feliciano (14-5-3 8 KOs) for the USBA Welterweight Championship in a 12-round title bout.

Rodriguez’s most recent televised appearance was perhaps his finest hour to date. He faced his toughest challenge in Luis Hernandez for the USBA Welterweight title last May. While Hernandez extended #1 welterweight contender Paul Williams the full ten in their 2004 bout, he couldn’t even make it out of the third against Rodriguez. The normally durable Ecuadorian was floored three times en-route to an exciting third-round TKO victory for Rodriguez.

Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia, Rodriguez’s promoter, expressed full confidence in Rodriguez’s talent.

“Delvin is an exciting and refreshing talent, and we believe he is the future of the welterweight division,” said DeGuardia. “He has all the tools to become a world champion and the punching power to create the highlight-reel knockouts the fans love. He’d better be because Feliciano is one tough hombre.”

“He (Delvin) is a TV fighter with skill, a fighter who isn't afraid to take a risk knowing he will return the favor,” states ESPN blow-by-blow commentator Joe Tessitore.

Boxing Writer’s Association President Tim Graham said “Rodriguez has a style that makes for exciting fights; he goes into a bout with an aggressive attitude and looks to land hard shots”.

Other notable experts have pegged Delvin to be the future of the welterweight division.

Jesse Feliciano is a no-nonsense TV friendly fighter who gives 100% every time out. His last two appearances on ESPN proved the point. Feliciano defeated Vince Phillips on short notice and shined against Contender Star Alfonso Gomez, which while called a draw most viewers thought Feliciano deserved to win.

Doors open at 7:00 P.M., first fight at 8:00 P.M.

Tickets prices: $75, $50 and $35

Tickets are available at Foxwoods Resort Casino Box Office (800) 200-2882, and online at www.foxwoods.com.
