'Bam Bam' Brandon Rios Returns to Chicagoland Fri., April 13th!

Press Release

CICERO, Ill. -- UNDEFEATED lightweight prospect Brandon “BAM BAM” Rios returns to Chicago for his second straight SOLO BOXEO televised co-main event on Friday, April 13th as part of RESURRECTION, another evening of world class professional boxing promoted by Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions.

Joining 8 Count Productions in presenting RESURRECTION is Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated, TCF Bank and TECATE Beer.

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Advanced tickets can be obtained by calling 312-226-5800.

The 20 year old Rios, 14-0 (10KO’s), fighting out of La Colonial Gym in Oxnard, California, home base for two time junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas, will battle El Paso ’s Carlos Madrid, 8-2-1 (2KO’s) in the eight round co-main event.

Rios’s last bout was a unanimous decision over Humberto Tapia on December 22, 2006 at Cicero Stadium, an outstanding eight round war also broadcast internationally on SOLO BOXEO.

Madrid is coming of an exciting eight round draw with Mike Gonzalez on January 26, 2007, a fight that had the packed house at Cicero Stadium on their feet cheering on both warriors from start to finish.

Rios’ trainer, former lightweight world champion Roberto Garcia spoke of the upcoming battle with Madrid and Rios’ training.

“ Brandon was just up in Big Bear for two months in the Marco Antonio Barrera camp. It was a great experience for him to be in a professionally run camp with such a legendary fighter. He’s in terrific shape and will be in great condition to face Madrid . “

Speaking about returning to Chicago following Rios’ win over Humberto Tapia on December 22, 2006, Garcia said, “Our team truly enjoyed our experience last time in Chicago , the crowd was very supportive of Brandon and we’re looking forward to another great show.”

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, “We’re thrilled to bring “BAM BAM” back. He’s a great kid and our fans loved seeing him fight in December. I think his fight with Madrid will also be a terrific battle. Both guys exemplify the type of fighters that our fans love and have come to expect at our events.”
