CHICAGO, March 27, 2006 -- WHITNEY YOUNG HIGH SCHOOL senior Chris Pineda, 17, has been missing since early evening on Friday, March 23, 2007. He was last seen on the East Side at approximately 107th and Ewing Avenue.

Whitney Young High School Administration and school officials, as well as family and friends, have stated unequivocally that they do not believe that Mr. Pineda is a runaway. A tearful Ingrid Pineda, Chris' older sister says, He has never done this before. He had everything to live for. Out of 6 children, he was going to be the first to graduate from high school. School officials have verified that this is the first documented case of Chris missing from school and have no records or reports of him having run away from home on any previous occasions.

Mrs. Pineda, Chris mother, said that her son would call her whenever he was going to be late and always notified her of where he was. One of Chris classmates stated that Chris was a happy, friendly kid who seemed to enjoy school.

Chris Pineda's brothers have expressed frustration that the Chicago Police Department seems reluctant to assist their family in any meaningful way in locating their brother.

The family would appreciate any assistance given by the media in covering their beloved son and brother's disappearance. They are available for interviews and to provide the media with additional information and details, which might lead to finding Chris Pineda.

All of us at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School are very concerned and ask anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to contact any of the following:
