Yuratovac Faces St. John for WBC Title Fight!

By Dennis Hardesty
Manager of Amy Yurakovac

Amy Yuratovac, 6-1, will face Mia St. John, 43-9 for the WBC International Welterweight Title. And with only 7 fights to her credit, Yuratovac has a chance to win a WBC World belt.

Ranked 10th in the world, Yuratovac accepted the fight on a short notice but was thrilled to have the opportunity to dust off Mia St. John.

I wasn't quite sure to take the fight at first. Fearing the judges might favor Mia St. John. Amy and I talked it over and she said, point blank, "I want to fight her, Dennis." Amy has never asked me for anything since I've known her. She was dead serious. So the fight's on.

Having her on the road in the past has helped her gain confidence. It appears she's the new kid on the block as far as world wide recognition goes. With Amy's name associated with the likes of Christy Martin, she has definitely made her way to the top fast. Mia will be the favorite in Mexico but Amy is used to being the underdog and is afraid of nothing. Once again another local boxer has made their way to the top.

I firmly believe this area has some of the best athletes in the world. I have trained many and the attitude that Amy has is a true champions desire and heart.

Amy trains at Trumbull Park in South Chicago ( South Deering ) right over the State Line off 103rd. and Torrence. Anyone is welcome to watch her train for the fight. She is there Monday - Friday from 5pm.- 7pm.

Her trainers are Rodney Wilson/Dennis Hardesty. She is managed by Dennis Hardesty. Also helping Amy is Perry Scott.Fred Berns from F&F Berns, Inc. has done a lot for Amy.

There is also a WBC Light Flyweight Title on the card.
