Standing 8 Productions is pleased to announce the return of Jean Paul “The Profound” Mendy to the states on Saturday the 25th of October at the Township Auditorium in the Columbia, SC when Mendy will face Jason “Notorious” Naugler. This bout is for the vacant IBF International Super Middle Weight Belt and is great opportunity for both fighters to get the much deserved recognition from the Boxing world.

Mendy is coming off of a layoff of nearly a year and is anxious to get back in ring against a worthy opponent to show everyone that he has the metal to be the next World Champion and is ducking no one on the way to that goal. Jean Paul brings to the ring an unblemished record of 25 wins with 13 of those wins by knock out.

Gabriel Gaide, the promoter of Mendy, has big plans for his fighter and is committed to campaigning him in the United States as he and Mendy both realize he will need to fight here to meet the caliber of fighter he has to face to if he expects to be recognized as a contender for a World title shot.

The Canadian Light Heavy Weight Champion Jason Naugler has gone the distance with current Light Heavy Weight World Champion Chad Dawson, who recently defended his title against Antonio Tarver. Naugler has never been knocked out in any of his bouts, including fights with contenders Jesse Brinkley of “the Contender” fame and James McGirt Jr., both fighters being in the upper class of boxing in the Super Middle Weight division. Having never been stopped, Naugler will definitely bring his A game and a notorious chin and the heart of a champion when he faces Mendy as he too knows he has something to prove to the boxing fans.

This fight will be one of if not the best bout ever fought in South Carolinas Capitol City. Standing 8 Productions has done a stellar job in promoting this fight with exposure in every medium available and the VIP and dignitary guest list is a virtual who’s who of Columbia and surrounding area. The event will be Hosted by Actor/Comedian Eddie Griffin with special guest Akon. Akon also is of the same origin and fellow countryman of Gabriel Gaide and Jean Paul Mendy.

The Co-Main event matches Shawn the “Sioux Warrior” Hawk of Sioux Falls, South Dakota against Josh “the Slinger” Green of Clover, South Carolina. Both Green and Hawk have undefeated records and are fighting for the USBO Cruiser Weight Title. These two fighters have similar records and are fighting for the opportunity to move upward in the rankings. This match up could prove to be the fight that will move each of these fighters to the next level and future bouts that will give them the much needed exposure that a young fighter has to have. Green is the youngster in this event, being only twenty one years old, he is in position to fight for several sanctioning organizations youth title. At 6’6” and a cruiser weight and having fought the majority of his fights at Light Heavy, he has time and natural growth on his side should he decide to move up to the Heavy Weight Division.

Melinda “the Specialist” Cooper brings her undefeated record to the South Saturday night when she faces Jessica “Goodnite” Mohs in what should prove to be a true test for Melinda as Jessica has only been stopped 4 times in her career. Melinda is coming off of an impressive win over South Carolina native Donna Biggers and is ready for this fight in Biggers home state.

Kelvin “Concrete” Davis, former Cruiser Weight Champion, takes on fighter Marcus Oliveria. This is the first time Kelvin has campaigned at Light Heavy Weight in his 34 fight career and is ready to show the boxing world he is a contender at the new weight. Oliveria too realizes this is a great opportunity for him to make a statement in the Light Heavy Weight Division.

Mehdi Azri is making his first appearance on this side of the Atlantic and is excited about fighting in front of the American boxing fans. Azri has an impressive 12 win 6 loss record as his losses came at the hands of fighters with a combined win loss record of 89 wins and only 24 losses. Mehdi is focused and ready to take on a game William Ganes as Ganes fights in front of his fans from all around South Carolina. Ganes is trained and Coached by his father Jodi Ganes who is well known in the Low Country for a stellar amateur career and his work with several local young fighters since retiring from boxing as a fighter and moving on to help the sport grow in the South.

Standing 8 Productions is looking forward to bringing more world class fight to this area, and to offering the opportunity to their fighters to fight here and around the world. This fight card is a strong card of evenly matched bouts as Gabriel Gaide brings his philosophy that the fans deserve to see good fights and new talent not normally given the exposure they deserve. This card will be filmed for distribution throughout the Fox Network and rebroadcast in foreign countries as well. A former fighter himself Gabriel Gaide recognizes the need for fresh talent to get the exposure they need while the fan also deserves evenly matched, entertaining events. This Fight Card is a Fight Card for the Boxing Fans. Gabriel Gaide, CEO of Standing 8 Productions is dedicating this event to the World Peace Makers.

A Dedication to World Peacemakers
2008

Boxing is a complex business, the toughest sport both physically and mentally. In the ring, competitors have great respect for the art of fighting and a love for the sport. Their collective experience gives them the gift of understanding how to control themselves in everyday life. Being strong in the ring and in life, athletes’ hearts are tender, kind, and generous.

The real fight is outside the ring when you choose the just cause to fight for.

• Standing 8 Productions will recognize these world peacemakers through a major annual event dedicated to their ideals, ideals that must be remembered by future generations. The memory of world peace makers such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Chief Joseph of the Nez Pez Indian Tribe, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, Mother Theresa, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and special tributes extended to Nelson Mandela will be the central themes for the annual events.

• Each year Standing 8 Productions will promote exciting boxing and entertainment events worldwide to celebrate the spirit of freedom that these peacemakers gave as their undying legacy, making each and every year a reason for all people to remember their contribution in fostering the brotherhood of mankind and leading us to world peace for the new generation.

• A portion of the sponsorship and ancillaries will be donated to the United Nations Fund and charities that focus on the victims of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the Indonesian tsunami, and human prejudice such as occurred in the Rwanda genocide.
