Euro-Beat Update: Jorgensen's Fight falls Through & More!

Norwegian jr. welter Geir Inge Jorgensenīs planned fight for this past weekend in Miami didnīt come off and Jorgensen, who is managed by Emanuel Steward, is now returning home and hopes to get a tuneup fight in Europe before returning to Detroit and a bout there September 23. Jorgensen last fought eleven months ago.

German promoter Ralf Reiser will stage a show in Antalya, Turkey, August 26. Headlining is WBB lightheavy champ Ali Yilderim. Heavyweight Ozcan Cetinkaya and cruiser Serdar Sahin are also on the bill. All fighters and their handlers are coming in from Germany.

Hungarian jr middle Attila Kovacs is off Felix-Promotionīs September 9 show with WBO I/C feather champ Andres Meszaros taking his place.

Jr middle prospect Nikita Dubunin have been added to Sauerland Eventīs big show August 26 in Oldenburg.

World Cup of Boxing, the Belgian project for a new kind of ratings, will close down after five years. The site, worldcupofbxoing.com, is well worth checking out though and features the fine pugillistic paintings by Sam Dillemans.

"If Daddy Donīt sing Danny Boy" on the Hacienda Brothersī latest album, "Whatīs Wrong With Right" appears to be about Barry McGuiganīs fight against Stevie Cruz back in 86. Itīs written by former Golden Gloves champ Chris Gaffney. The CD is produced by Dan Penn.
