Lou Savarese forms Promotional Company!

HOUSTON, TEXAS – SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 - Houston based business owner Cameron Park and former top heavyweight Lou Savarese join forces to create Rock Solid Promotions. On October 12 the newly formed company will stage its first professional boxing event, showcasing some of Houston’s rising stars and the pro debut of a MMA legend.

The main event features WBC 12th ranked and current USNBC Light Heavyweight champion "Hard Hittin" Chris Henry in a title defence. Henry 15-0 14KOs has been on a terror since turning pro amazingly only last year while already picking up one title along the way, now setting his eyes on a bigger prize in the near future. In his last outing he completely overwhelmed Washington State’s Brock Stodden, becoming the first man in thirty three fights to knock him out in the opening round thus solidifying claims of being the most exciting up and comer in the division.

The co-feature is a glimpse at junior middleweight up and comer Chase "The White Tiger" Shields. The former Texas Southern University strong safety has had a successful run since turning pro in 2002 going 20-0-1 with 11 inside the distance. Last month Shields scored an impressive 3rd round TKO over Thomas Grissom and looks to step up his competition en route to bigger fights in one of the most talented divisions in all of boxing.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez makes his long awaited debut in a boxing ring on the same show. Having beaten some of the best strikers in the mixed martial arts world, Rodriguez is set to bring havoc to a heavyweight division that needs all the excitement that it can get. With aspirations to become the only fighter to ever win titles in MMA and boxing, Rodriguez will definitely be a man to keep an eye on.

Also making ring appearances will be heavyweight fan favourite Bobby "El Jefe" Flores, who finally makes his return to the ring after making the crowd erupt last year when he destroyed Jason Miller in 45 seconds and 15-3 cruiserweight "Diamond" Dominique Alexander who fights in Texas for the first time in almost two years, looking to put his name next to the top of the thriving weight class.

"We have a lot of talent here in Houston and many fighters that have the potential to become great, all they need now is to be showcased in their hometown. Our local fighters should not have to go to another state to get their name out early in their career."

With the announcement of the Park and Savarese partnership, Rock Solid Promotions is certain to bring new life to the Houston boxing scene.

The Houston Grand Plaza Hotel is located at 8686 Kirby Drive.
